If something you bought did not show up, here are a few quick checks that can fix it.
For iOS
Make sure your internet connection is steady and that you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used for the purchase.
Restart the game and reboot your device to refresh the connection.
Open the in-game settings and tap Restore Purchases. This can bring non-consumable purchases (currently only islands) back.
Try not to close the game immediately after making a purchase.

For Android
